The reasons why we use your personal data
This privacy notice applies to the functions of the Environment Service relating to the hosting of an external web platform for Surrey residents and businesses on behalf of the Environment, Infrastructure and Growth Directorate.
What processing of personal data is undertaken by the team?
Together for Surrey is a partnership between Surrey County Council’s Greener Futures and University of Surrey’s (UoS) Institute for Sustainability. Together for Surrey uses a ‘Contact Us’ form to help resolve any user queries.
Your personal data will be used in order to respond to your query via the ‘contact us’ function on the site.
Where we have your consent, your personal data is collated to enable us to contact you in the future to be able to offer personalised products and services
We collect your personal data for the following:
- Service delivery
- Service improvement and planning
- Prevention & detection of crime and fraud
- Research
- Statistical analysis and reporting

- Contact details (i.e., email address)
- Locality within Surrey

To process your personal data, we will explain to you what we are asking you to agree to and why. If we have consent to use your personal data, you have the right to remove it at any time. Who we share your personal data with
Your personal information will be shared with the Surrey County Council and the University of Surrey’s Institute for Sustainability. As this is a website jointly managed by Surrey County Council and the University of Surrey. The platform will be managed by staff from both organisations and therefore your personal data may be accessed by members of staff from either of these organisations.
We may wish to share case studies of good practice across the county. If you contact us with examples of good practice, we will contact you to seek approval to share your content to the site. Your first name may be shared on the published online content unless you request otherwise, or a pseudonym is provided.
If you contact us to share good practice and seek this to be published on the web platform, your first name and locality will appear alongside this content, unless you request otherwise.
Retention of data
Data submitted to Together for Surrey platform will be retained for 12 months or as long as content remains live on the site (whichever is longer). For personal data collected through queries, your personal data will not be retained after queries are resolved.

We welcome any photos or videos you may wish to include but please be mindful not to include any personal identifiable information.
