Encourage sustainable practice at work

Surrey businesses are accountable for a huge environmental footprint within the county: Around half a million tons of Surrey’s waste is produced by commerce and industry, and businesses account for about 25% of our total carbon emissions across the county (Surrey County Council).
Loads of businesses are taking steps to reduce their impact – and it’s not just the senior leadership teams that are working to improve their sustainability credentials.
There are many ways that organisations can join collaborative efforts to make Surrey a cleaner and healthier place to live. It could be as simple as understanding the organisation’s carbon footprint or making a difference through staff engagement (e.g., no car commute competition; idea pitch for integrating sustainability into daily operations). And when ready to take a more meaningful step towards sustainability, one can become a B Corp and share good examples of social and environmental impact within and outside Surrey County.

Building a collaborative team that is enthusiastic about sustainability challenges would be hugely rewarding for your business. Benefits would include:

  • Supporting your staff to lead healthier lives and become more engaged with work by encouraging active travel through commuting on bike, foot, or public transport.
  • Cutting waste at work while giving back to your local community: Generate funding for your local primary school through Green Redeem.
  • Saving money and preventing waste by reducing (or entirely removing) disposables in the office.
  • Improving the company's sustainability credentials which would have a positive impact on your business.
