Choosing a new heating system
Nobody wants to be chilly at home – but keeping the boiler on all the time or turning up your thermostat won’t help with rising energy bills – and might not even make you warmer. But there is a solution: making home energy improvements like choosing a new heating system when the time’s right can be a great way to reduce your bills while maintaining the warmth in your home. This can be expensive of course, but you may be eligible for support through schemes like Warm Homes Local Grant which can cover these home improvements.
A new heating system will be more efficient, helping to lower bills, and newer technology like heat pumps actually have the highest user satisfaction rating of any heating system. And if you are concerned about climate change, you might be interested to know that in 2020 the average household emitted 2,690kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) just for heating and hot water, and we need to reduce this to 140kg per household until 2050 to reach Surrey’s emissions targets. As half of our energy bills are spent on heating and hot water, upgrading the heating system would be an efficient strategy to partake in climate action while gaining monetary savings.*
