Learn more about heat pumps

People can be sceptical about new technologies when they launch, as in the case of heat pumps. Although heat pumps have been around for some time (in fact, your fridge is a form of heat pump), many of us still remain unsure about them.

But you may be surprised to learn that this scepticism is not based on real experiences. In fact, 72% of residents with either air source or ground source heat pumps rate themselves to be ‘very satisfied’ or ‘fairly satisfied’ (Climate Outreach). This is the highest satisfaction level amongst the owners of any type of heating system, including gas boilers.

68% of Surrey residents want ambitious action on climate change (Surrey County Council), and one of the ways to do this is switching to heat pumps instead of using the traditional gas/oil boiler. This will save the residents money and improve the efficiency and comfort of the heating at home. There is even £7500 grant support for heat pump installation, which can be used to pay about half to three-quarters of the cost of an air source heat pump.

Installing a heat pump instead of the traditional boiler has loads of advantages, including:

  • Saving money on your energy bills, as heat pumps have lower energy costs compared to gas/electric boilers.
  • Enjoying comfortable and steady room temperature that will keep you cozy, compared to the fluctuations caused by turning your boiler on and off.
  • Directly contributing to air quality improvement and climate mitigation, as heat pumps have no emissions.
