Environment jobs: Surrey Sustainable Business Network

The Surrey Sustainable Business Network (SBN) is hiring a short term freelancer to support the launch of a project providing energy surveys for small businesses.

The role is to start as soon as possible, and the SBN are looking for someone with strong business engagement and project management experience. Having previously provided free energy surveys to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the SBN has received funding to re-launch this great initiative.

The role requires someone who is confident in engaging SMEs on sustainability issues and driving forward early-stage project delivery, and requires a skilled communicator.
About the Surrey Sustainable Business Network

The Sustainable Business Network is run by local charity Zero Carbon Guildford (ZCG). The charity is the lead partner in Surrey’s Home Energy Advice Team, a very successful project which has provided energy advice to over 2000 Surrey homes since winter 2023, with a customer satisfaction rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.

Alongside energy advice ZCG host the Community Water Lab, testing river chemistry and E.coli levels with the Wey Catchment Partnership. They run regular community fridge sessions and events, and partner with Guildford Library in the local Library of Things.
The Sustainable Business Network is a project which supports business sustainability plans, and working with Surrey County Council they have put over 100 businesses through a decarbonisation course.
We have secured funding to provide high level energy assessments and advice to local businesses, and aim to support at least 30 SMEs over the next 24 months.
About The Role

This freelance opportunity will support the launch of the energy advice project in advance of the recruitment of a non-domestic energy assessor who will provide more in-depth energy reduction plans.

It will involve the creation of a bran identity and comms materials, driving early stage engagement to create a pipeline of interested businesses, and developing the templates and reporting for the non-domestic energy assessor role.

More Info and Apply

For more information, and to find out how to apply for the role, visit the job posting on the Zero Carbon Guildford website.

Applications are expected by 8th September, but the SBN may extend the deadline.
