Switch to electric vehicles

Many councils including Surrey are promoting electric vehicles (EVs) for lower running costs, less noise, as well as reduced air pollution.

Department for Transport figures show 12,014 battery-electric cars were registered in Surrey at the end of last year, up from 7,601 the previous year.

Switching to an EV brings lots of personal and environmental benefits including:

  • Saving money: EVs generally require lower running costs than traditional petrol/diesel cars. You can also save on tax.
  • Contributing to cleaner air: No oil/gas means zero tailpipe emissions.
  • Reducing noise pollution in your neighbourhood: EVs are significantly quieter than traditional vehicles.
